Compatibility check

Step 1.

Confirm that the original light switch mounting holes are spaced 60mm apart. This is standard for most light switches in the UK and is essential for the correct fitment of our covers.

Step 2.

Confirm that the height and width of the original switch are 86mm or less. If the width or height are more than 86mm then the backplate will not fit over the light switch.

Step 3.

Confirm that the depth of the original light switch is less than 9mm. If the depth is more than 9mm then the cover will contact the light switch and may cause the light to flicker on and off.

If your light switches meet these criteria then they will be compatible with all of the products in our Pro switch cover range. Yay!

If your light switches do not meet these criteria unfortunately the products in our Pro switch cover range will not be compatible. In this situation we recommend that you check out our Standard or Classic ranges instead, which offer more compatibility for larger switches.

Step 1.

Confirm that the height and width of the original switch fascia are 86mm or less. If the width or height are more than 86mm, you should remove the fascia plate to allow enough clearance.

Step 3.

Confirm that the depth of the original light switch is less than 9mm. If the depth is more than 9mm then you should remove the switch button to allow enough clearance.

If your light switches meet these criteria then they will be compatible with all of the products in our Classic switch cover range. Yay!

If your light switches do not meet these criteria unfortunately the products in our Pro switch cover range will not be compatible. In this situation we recommend that you check out our Standard range instead, which offers more compatibility for larger switches.

Our switch covers are primarily designed for the European market, but that's not to say that our covers won't be compatible with other countries too.

If your light switches are attached by 2 screws horizontally measuring 60mm apart, then there is a good chance our covers will fit your switches too.

We strongly recommend that you contact us, ideally with photographs of your light switches, so that we can advise you further.

Which range do you recommend?

It very much depends on what you are trying to achieve, which is why we have several ranges for different purposes.

If you want to keep access to the original light switch, then the Classic and Standard ranges are perfect.

If you have flush-mounted UK or European light switches and want the slimmest solution we offer, then you should get our Pro range.

For the most integrated solution, our Pro range also has a ‘switch replacement’ configuration which is designed for those who want to hard-wire their lighting circuit permanently on and replace their light switches entirely. Of course, the installation is a little bit more hands-on in this configuration though.

Whichever range you choose though, we are sure you will love it and end up upgrading your entire house!

How easy are they to install?

If you can operate a screwdriver, you’re pretty much sorted!

Our Classic range backplate simply screws over the top of your existing light switch and then the cover clips onto the backplate.

Our Standard and Pro range backplates have a unique opening design which allows them to easily slide behind your light switch and over the wires – and the cover then clips onto the backplate.

How do I remove the cover?

There is a little notch on the bottom of Pro range covers. To remove, either put your finger in the notch and lift the cover up, or put in a flat-head screwdriver and twist.

How strong is the magnetic connection?

Strong. All our switch covers are designed to have equal or better magnetic strength that the original Hue holders they are replacing.
